Ode to the Blog Topic
My staff asked me to write a blog,
About what? My head in a fog.
I thought about technical stuff or design
Or perhaps some personal interest of mine
Maybe travel or current events
Or the political climate in France
Maybe a blog about books or cuisine
Or how some folks think these times are lean
Or a blog about music or art
Or topics that tug at the heart
Maybe a nice blog about science
Or techniques for attracting new clients
Maybe politics would make a good topic
I could bore you with something myopic
Or talk about dogma through ages
Religious discussion is contagious
I could write limericks on my computer
And give ‘em the appropriate meter
And when I was done
You’d say, “that was fun.
But you’d be a better Walmart greeter!”
Maybe a blog about romance
Or sex or money or insurance
Perhaps one on sports would be read
So many ideas in my head
Then a chat with a good friend of mine
Who’s been blogging for quite a long time
Helped me to understand why
Of topics, the limit’s the sky
She said in her inimitable way
Just to blog about what’s special today.
That blogs are just stories, and need
To be about things others would read
So I’m making that my new mission
And I’m giving myself a condition
To blog about interesting stuff
Till you all say, “Bryon, that’s enough!”
